I bought the multicolored sapphires from an Australian vendor as I loved the color variations. I put two strands aside for myself when I was buying the stones–before I even designed it! Most people are only familiar with blue sapphires, but it comes in an entire rainbow of colors. Back in my Brooklyn studio, I paired the hand-faceted stones with neon apatite and hammered Balinese gold vermeil.
Wear this piece with your funkier outfits or use it to brighten up a simple dress. It is a conversation starter of a necklace, and I love wearing it alongside the Belle of India to create delicate layers. I also love how the pink sapphires highlight the faceted garnet in the Casablanca necklace. You can add some metal to the mix when layered with the Asarwa Chain. I also wear it with the Berber Pendant.
Known as the wisdom stone, each shade of sapphire has a particular purpose, making it a perfect present for many recipients. Yellow sapphire brings prosperity and improves overall focus. White sapphire is extremely protective, provides focus and supports justice. Pink sapphire clears emotional blockages and brings peace. Sapphire also commemorates both the 5th and 45th wedding anniversaries.
